La Pavoni Europiccola tool kit

A few tools are needed to maintain your espresso machine. A larger set of tools is required for repairs and overhauls.

TOOLS FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE
Q-tips (portafilter and group head cleaning)
Citric acid, powdered (de-scaling the boiler tank)
6mm brush (cleaning inside the steam wand)

TOOLS FOR OVERHAUL

  • 10mm, 14mm and 7/16 inch wrenches
  • 14mm & 16mm sockets and a T-handle for sockets
  • 13x1.5mm slot screwdriver 1/2" socket bit
  • #2 stubby Phillips screwdriver (base screw)
  • Flat blade screwdriver ⅜"-½" wide 1.5mm thick (sight glass cap screw)
  • Dow 111 lubricant (piston seals and piston shaft lubricant)

Dental picks (cleaning cervices and removing seals)

Mini snap ring removal tool, internal type (piston rod seal retainer)

Boiler nut wrench (for removing the boiler). This is a fairly cheap ($12.00) adjustable oil filter wrench that I bought at an automotive store. It is a satisfactory alternative to the official factory wrench that cost about $100.

For cleaning the metal surfaces of the La Pavoni (or any espresso machine), most sites that I have read recommend Joe Glo Espresso Machine Backflush Detergent Cleaner. If you are dismantling a machine, just soak all the metal parts in a solution of Joe Glo.
