There are a few varieties of manual espresso machines. La Pavoni is most popular of the manual machines with a built in water tank that allows you to make 4 or 5 espressos. They are around $1,300. Recently the other popular types are lever machines that are one shot where hot water is poured into a small reservoir. These are around $500. There are also some small hand-held portable espresso extractors like the Nanopresso and even smaller Picopresso.
